Primal Vinyasa Intro Course


A 6 week course exploring the different components of primal vinyasa, including:

– Fundamental and contralateral movement (assymetry)

– Developmental patterns (crawling/rocking)

– Sensory awareness and processing

– Taking flight (jumping, plyometrics)

– Migration and evolution

Props are used throughout the practice. Please have 2 bricks, a blanket and a mop handle/broomstick available.

Week 1 – Fundamentals: Breathe, Rock, & Squat

Breath initiates life and informs the fundamentals of movement. Early-stage development skills tune you into your body’s natural reflexes. In this practice you will reconnect with your true, functional core as a source of evolutionary movement. Explore fundamental anatomical positions for the human body and increase the range of motion in your joints.

Week 2: Would you like to develop a stronger core? Reach, Crawl & Roll

Body awareness drives the kind of brain development we lose in our increasingly linear world. Contralateral movement shows us how an activity as basic and directed as walking actually depends upon non-linear movement to propel us forward. In this class we will re-establish the fundamentals of balance, strength, and healing as you stabilize, mobilize, and co-ordinate your limbs across the planes of your body. All these movements are vital to sustaining 3 dimensional core strength.

Week 3: Sense, Explore & Rewild.

We are formed by our relationship to space. Through space, we establish boundaries. In this class we will tease the edges of our perceived sense of the landscape within and around us by exploring our lesser known senses; proprioception, interoception & the vestibular system. Open up to new possibilities. Revive your instincts. Heighten your senses.

Week 4: Compression, Expansion & Rebound.

Every action has an equal and opposite reaction. The laws of physics apply to all of life, including your body. Experience the give and take that propels you through complementary motions like push and pull, expand and contract, squat and stand… and discover how to transfer energy from one action to the next so that you can move with ease.

Week 5: Migration

Nothing in nature is dead-set. Everything living is ready for refinement. Experience the plasticity of your tissues as a celebration of your advanced human form with this full-spectrum movement practice that breaks through every plane of possibility.

Week 6: Fusion Flow

Experience a combination of drills from each category in this practice to integrate what we have been exploring throughout the journey of this course.
